Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Katherine Davis has joined the firm as an associate in the firm’s labor and employment practice group in the Kansas City office. She previously worked for the firm as a summer associate.

“Kate’s familiarity with our firm’s values and commitment to client service will make her an immediate asset,” said Patrick Whalen, chair of Spencer Fane. “Labor and employment matters have become increasingly important, and this was a wonderful opportunity to expand this practice group to help meet the increasing need in this sector of law for our clients in Kansas City.”

Prior to entering private practice, Davis served as a judicial extern for Judge Nancy Moritz in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Topeka, Kansas. She completed her undergraduate studies at Emporia State University before earning her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law.

Davis was a first-grade teacher in the Olathe, Kansas school district for two years before going back to law school. While at Washburn, she served as treasurer of the labor and employment student organization, the notes editor on the Washburn Law Journal and a teaching assistant for a legal analysis, research, and writing course. She was also a Weigand Scholar as part of the J.L. Weigand, Jr. Notre Dame Legal Education Trust.

In addition, Davis was a student member of the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka.
