Lewis Rice has welcomed Luke Jackson as an associate in the firm's litigation department. He will represent clients in a range of legal fields, including securities and financial services, complex commercial litigation, class action and labor and employment matters.

Before joining Lewis Rice, Jackson was an associate at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. Prior to graduating from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2018, he served as an electronic warfare specialist in the U.S. Air Force where he was awarded the Air Force Achievement and National Defense Service medals in recognition of his service.
 

Kansas City

Stephen Douglas Bonney of Kansas City was admitted to membership in the National Academy of Arbitrators in October.  The NAARB is the professional organization of arbitrators in the United States and Canada. 
 

Sandberg Phoenix has named shareholder Meghan Lewis as managing attorney for the firm’s Kansas City office. Lewis assumed her new role Nov. 1 and is the firm’s second female lawyer to hold this position.

Lewis is an experienced civil litigator and appellate lawyer with a history of working in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith, business litigation, personal injury defense and appellate advocacy. In her new role, Lewis will serve as the liaison between the firm’s Kansas City office and its headquarters in St. Louis, drive business development efforts and manage internal operations.

With this change, Sharon Stolte, shareholder with the firm, has transitioned to team lead of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditor’s rights team. Stolte brings more than 25 years of experience with a focus on bankruptcy, Chapter 11 debtor and creditor issues, as well as Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer debtor matters. She has represented creditors in all aspects of creditor rights; litigation, claim objection litigation, collateral realization, mechanic liens, collections, foreclosures and replevin litigation.

Katrina Smeltzer was named shareholder, effective Nov. 1. Smeltzer leads the firm’s professional liability team and is an experienced litigator, representing clients from many different industries on varied matters. She handles matters from the pre-suit investigative stage through trial.

The firm has also welcomed Jared Cluck to the Kansas City office as an associate. He brings with him a broad scope of experience as a lawyer with expertise in tort, employment and civil rights litigation matters.
