St. Louis

St. Louis-based law firm Lewis Rice has elected three new members to its Management Committee: Apollo Carey, Sarah Mullen and Joel Weeks.

Carey practices in the firm’s Corporate Department and serves as co-chair of the Real Estate Practice Group. His clients include both public and private entities in the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Carey focuses on real estate and tax matters due to his education and background as a former commercial real estate appraiser.

Mullen serves as co-chair of the Education/Sports Advisory and Consulting Practice Group and practices in the firm’s Litigation Department. She represents clients in both the public and private sectors and counsels on a host of issues, including labor and employment, higher education, municipal and school governance and compliance, and immigration issues. Mullen also serves as vice chair of Lewis Rice’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Weeks is co-chair of the firm’s Estate Planning and Probate Department. He focuses his practice on estate and gift planning with an emphasis on transfer tax planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, preparation of estate and gift tax returns, and estate and gift tax controversies. He advises high-net worth individuals and families with respect to their wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, charitable giving, and asset protection. 
 

Emily Elam (SLU Law Class of 2014, Missouri Bar Leadership Academy Class of 2020-21) has been promoted to Director of Strategic Priorities for Citi's Global Legal Department. Elam will also function as Chief of Staff to Citi's Legal CAO/COO and Head of Global Legal Solutions. 

In her new role, Elam will  focus on the execution of key departmental initiatives, expense management, and operational excellence. She will remain in St. Louis, Missouri and will continue to serve as a leader in Citi's North America and St. Louis pro bono efforts. Elam has been with Citi for 7 years, most recently as an Assistant General Counsel supporting Citi’s US Personal Banking lines of business. Elam was previously an Associate at Jenkins & Kling, P.C. 
 

Springfield

Monsees & Mayer has hired attorney and partner, Chip Lee in Springfield, Missouri. Lee joins the growing litigation team with offices in Kansas City and Springfield, broadening the firm's ability to help clients across the region with cases including abuse, car accident, trucking accident, wrongful death, serious injury, premise liability, and negligent security.

Lee has nearly a decade of litigation experience specializing in representing clients in a variety of legal disputes including sexual abuse, motor vehicle accidents, workplace accidents and wrongful death claims. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law with an emphasis in litigation.
